The Gulen movement or Hizmet  is a transnational social and religious movement founded and led by Turkish Islamic scholar and preacher Muhammed Fethullah Gulen. The movement is a civil movement so that it has no official name, but usually called as Hizmet Movement (“the Service”) and is known as Cemaat (“the Community/Assembly”) or lately it is called Camia (” the Communty”).

Gulen movement has millions of supporters in Turkey, Central Asia, and increasingly in other parts of the world. Gulen Movement is active in education with private schools, Relief Foundations, Turkish Cultural Centers, Islamic Institutes, Turkic Festivals in over 160 countries and intercultural and interfaith dialogue activities.  It has companies and not-for-profit organizations in media finance, and health sector. Fethullah Gulen movement has been described as a “pacifist, modern-minded Islam, also as a contrast to more extreme Salafism.”
